Documents Newspaper Archive The Story told by Contemporary News Reports In the 1880’s and 90’s The “Big City” newspapers from Brandon and Winnipeg did pay attention to events on the “frontier”. Settlement News Stories Long before the Town of Rivers was born, news from the communities in the R.M. of Daly such as Ancrum, Tarbolton, Wheatland and Roseville would occasionally appear in the Brandon Sun. 2. The Railway The coming of the Grand Trunk Pacific was big news across the country and across the continent.
